Implant-Supported Dentures

If your dentures rock, rub or limit what you eat, implants can lock them in place. A small number of implants transforms a loose denture into a stable, confident bite.

Implant-supported denture locking onto implants
Overview

Your denture, anchored.

An implant-supported denture (overdenture) clips onto 2–4 implants placed in your jaw, instead of resting loosely on your gums. The result is a denture that stays exactly where it should — through meals, conversation and laughter.

It's a middle path between conventional dentures and a fixed All-on-4 bridge: significantly more stability and chewing power than a standard denture, at a lower investment than a full fixed arch. Depending on the design, your overdenture either snaps in and out for easy cleaning, or is fixed in place by your dentist.

If you already wear a denture you're mostly happy with, it can often be converted to clip onto implants — ask at your consultation.

What changes with implant support

  • No more movement. The denture locks onto implants — no slipping mid-sentence, no lifting when you bite.
  • Eat what you like. Dramatically improved chewing force compared to a suction-fit denture.
  • No adhesives. Throw out the glue — retention comes from the implants, not paste.
  • Slimmer, more comfortable design. Upper overdentures can often be made without covering the palate, improving taste and comfort.
  • Protects your jawbone. Implants stimulate bone and slow the shrinkage that makes ordinary dentures loosen over time.
The process

From loose to locked-in.

01

Free consultation & 3D scan

We assess your current denture, gums and bone with CBCT imaging and design the right overdenture solution for you.

02

Implant placement

2–4 implants are placed in a single visit — with sedation available. Your existing denture is adjusted so you can keep wearing it while you heal.

03

Healing & integration

The implants fuse with your bone over the following weeks, building the strength to hold your denture firmly.

04

Attachments fitted

Precision connectors are fitted to the implants and your new (or converted) denture — and it clicks securely into place.

05

Review & fine-tuning

Bite and retention are refined so everything feels natural, followed by simple ongoing maintenance.

Costs & payment

Clear pricing, flexible ways to pay.

Implant-supported dentures are quoted after your scan, based on the number of implants and whether your existing denture can be converted. It's typically a significantly smaller investment than a fixed full-arch bridge — and every payment pathway applies: interest-free plans, HICAPS claiming and early release of super* for eligible patients.

Payment plans

humm & Zip — 0% interest options

Spread your treatment over manageable instalments; no-deposit options available on approved applications.

Health funds

HICAPS on-the-spot claiming

Claim your private health fund rebate instantly at either location — you only pay the gap.

Superannuation

Early release of super*

Eligible patients may access super for medically necessary dental treatment. We prepare the supporting documentation.

*Subject to ATO approval and eligibility criteria. A personalised, itemised quote is provided at your consultation before any treatment begins.

Common questions

Implant-Supported Dentures — answered.

How many implants do I need?
Most lower overdentures use 2–4 implants; uppers typically use 4 because upper bone is softer. Your CBCT scan determines the right number for lasting stability.
Can my current denture be used?
Often, yes — if it fits well and is in good condition, it can frequently be modified to accept the implant attachments, reducing cost.
Do I still take it out at night?
Snap-in overdentures are removed for cleaning, usually nightly — but they can't fall out or drift while you're wearing them. Fixed designs stay in permanently and are cleaned like natural teeth.
Is this better than a fixed All-on-4 bridge?
They solve the same problem differently. All-on-4 is fixed, feels most like natural teeth and never comes out; an overdenture is more affordable and easier to clean. Your consultation compares both for your situation.
